Version 1.0

Terms

These are the plain-language terms of a hobby project, written by the person who runs it rather than by a lawyer. This is version 1.0, the version recorded against your account when you registered, and it was last updated on 16 September 2026.

What this is

Gray Horizon is a browser game about running a country as one of its citizens. It is made and run by one person as a hobby. There is no company behind it, no staff and no support desk.

It is in closed alpha, which means invited testers and a game that is still being built. It is given to you exactly as it is. Nothing here promises that it will be running at any particular moment, or that what you do in it will work. Things will break. That is what a test is for, and saying so when they do is the reason you were invited.

You have to be 16 or over

Gray Horizon keeps your email address, and across most of the European Union somebody under 16 cannot give permission for that on their own. So the game is for people aged 16 and over.

Nothing here checks your age. There is no verification, and saying so is more honest than a box that implies one. If somebody younger has registered, write to hello@grayhorizon.world and the account will be closed and what is held about it deleted.

The world will be deleted when the alpha ends

Every citizen, company, bank, party, government, war and article goes with it. Nothing you build here is kept. This is said in the banner inside the game, in the invitation that brought you here, and again now, because finding out afterwards is how a test loses its testers.

Some waits are also much shorter than they will be. Founding a company, changing your name, changing citizenship and calling an election normally take days or weeks, and have been compressed so that a short test can reach them at all. Those are not the real numbers.

Your account

You can close it yourself, at any time. It is in Settings, under Leave. Closing it removes every way back into it and cannot be undone. What you did stays on the record: elections you won, offices you held and money you moved remain, and your citizen shows as a deleted account. Your name is never given to anybody else. You can also write to hello@grayhorizon.world and ask for it to be done for you.

It can also be closed for breaking the World Rules. That is not done quietly. You are told what happened, why, and for how long, and you can ask for a second look. The World Rules say how.

What you write stays yours

Articles, comments, messages, chat, the description of an organisation, the name of a party, what you put on your profile: you wrote them and they are yours. What you give us is permission to show them, inside the game and in the public record the world keeps, for as long as Gray Horizon runs.

You can take your own writing back. A comment can only be withdrawn by the person who wrote it, and nobody else can do it for you: not another player, not the newspaper that published the article above it. If something you wrote has been reported, the game keeps its own copy so that deleting it afterwards does not decide the matter.

Some of the record is permanent on purpose. The world keeps a chronicle of what happened in it: elections, offices held, battles, treaties, the countries you have been a citizen of. Those are somebody else’s record as much as yours, so they cannot be unmade without unmaking theirs. Closing your account takes your name off them and shows a deleted citizen in your place. It does not undo the events.

Nothing is for sale

There is nothing to buy in Gray Horizon. Coins and the Supporter plan are both waiting on a payment provider, and neither will open while this world is one that gets deleted at the end of the test.

If that changes, it changes inside one rule that does not: money never buys power. What could ever be sold is how you look, and conveniences that do not affect what you can do. The World Rules say the same thing at more length, and that rule is older than these terms.

There is a tip jar. It buys nothing, unlocks nothing and changes nothing about how the game treats you, which is the point.

Who is responsible

Nikola Filić, reachable at hello@grayhorizon.world. This is a hobby project run by one person, not a company.

The World Rules are the rules you are held to inside the game, and they are part of these terms: you accepted both when you registered. The privacy note says what is kept about you, where it is kept and how to have it deleted.
